Most market researchers cite their ideal projects as being those involving variety, challenge and an uncertainty as to where the results will takes them. Nigel, on the other hand, enjoys those involving ‘automation and repetitive processes.’ That’s because Nigel comes from an engineering background, having worked previously at various automotive and aerospace companies (where a large part of his job involved developing precise and detailed measuring systems) before moving into market research. As Operations Director at Critical, Nigel’s job is to ensure that when the company takes on a project, everything is in place and fully functional to allow everyone else to do their job efficiently and enjoyably. Consequently Nigel is involved at an early stage with almost all of the projects the company takes on. Outside of work he will usually be found either ferrying his kids around or running the local scout group (with which he has been involved for the last 13 years.) Unsurprisingly for a scout leader he is passionate about the great outdoors and fixing things and he admires anyone who has had to overcome adversity in their life. He has his own pretty large collection of activity badges though he has regrettably not yet to learnt to tango. In another life Nigel would be an explorer discovering unchartered areas.
