Mark is known around the office for his jokes. His really bad jokes. But no one minds the jokes because Mark provides everyone with IT support and programming assistance whenever they need it. Mark is Critical’s resident number cruncher and is happiest when he is knee-deep in complex algorithms. He studied Maths and Computer Science at Cambridge and then went into market research because it offered a wide variety of computing and programming opportunities. His role at Critical involves programming, deploying and maintaining the systems that collect and present the research data and that means he is involved with the technical aspects of all kinds of different projects – but his favourite projects are those that involve online surveys and complex algorithms. Never far from a computer, when he is at home Mark relaxes by playing Quake 3 & online chess or making his own electronic music. His favourite musical artists are ‘Koenjiyakkei’, ‘Lone’ and ‘Toro Y Moi’ and he likes nature documentaries, gadgets, travelling and tea. He dislikes banker bonuses, stand-pipes, religious zealotry and any program hosted by Jonathan Ross. His best travelling experiences were in Israel and the Philippines and his favourite food is curry. Mark is proud of the fact that he can still do headstand-to-handstand push-ups.
